Inspired by the May 2007 EF5 tornado that wiped out 95% of Greensburg, Kansas and the June 2008 tornado that damaged Diamond Roofing's Manhattan office building, Diamond remains committed to the continual development of sustainability, as is evident in their Covering Roofs Green campaign. The mission of this campaign is to increase the awareness of overconsumption within the built environment and how "green" roofing practices can strategically influence the social, environmental, and economic aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. To achieve this, Diamond's professionals are involved in educational outreach seminars and technical research projects to help educate the industry's leaders regarding the development of sustainable roofing practices.
